The Mississippi Gulf Coast region has been described by true Mississippians as "not really Mississippi," but to a girl who has lived in Florida for the last 26 years it is definitely Mississippi. Sickeningly sweet smiles and true southern hospitality have greeted me at every turn. Recently jaded by all too many experiences with transplanted and transient New Yorkers and their typical abrasive personalities, it is hard to adjust to constantly being faced with smiling faces and friendly greetings (now I sound like the angry New Yorker).
It is refreshing to be in a new place with a new personality. I think I am going to enjoy it....
